Douglas Karr visits CIT499

On Monday my CIT499 class was fortunate enough to have Douglas Karr (@douglaskarr), Vice President of Blogging Evangelism and President of DKNew Media, as a guest speaker.  He had soo much information to give and it was easy to see he really loves what he does.

He focused mainly on social networking & bloging and its effects in the business place.  When business began creating social networking accounts they gain an advantege of advertisment, but are also forced to have a certian level of transparency about them.  This means that when customers have a question the company must either respond, or completely ignore (with the whole world watching). My favorite part of the class was his explanation on how the google page rank searching methods work.  I’ve always been a fan of google and their applications.

After Douglas finished his topics we had a few minuets left, and he asked if anyone had any questions. After a few other questions I asked if he had anything to say about software as a service and his resonse was “Of course!”  He explained the benifits of SaaS and gave several examples of systems that have grown very popular, very quickly.

This was a great experience. For anyone interested his blog can be found at “www.marketingtechblog.com”. Enjoy!
